Fall Fashion!

I am SO excited that the weather is finally turning cold! This week will be in the 70’s, but hopefully it will go down to the 60’s soon. I know I am not the only person who loves sweater weather!! So today I thought I would show you my favorite fall outfits.

My number 1 outfit is the one below. Skirts, tights and a sweater tucked in with boots or heels is my favorite go-to look for the fall. It’s so simple to put together but such a cute finished look. Invest in a couple skater skirts and you’ll be prepared for the colder weather ahead!

This season, it’s all about layering. This first look is definitely casual and perfect for, say, an apple picking day! But I personally love the second look. It’s also a bit more casual, but at the same time, it’s very put together and perfect for a shopping day with friends. 🙂

This last look is one of my favorites for a comfy day. An oversized sweater is warm, comfy and cute. Can’t beat that! Just finish it off with leggings and boots (or heels, if you want to dress it up a little more) and you have an easy, put together look!

5 Must Haves!

I was asked by the people http://www.mancrates.com/   to do a post about items I couldn’t live without. Those over at Man Crates make buying gifts for men easy yet creative! Complete with your own crowbar, you can order actual crates of goodies based on what type of man they’re for! I think this idea is awesome since I find that it is quite difficult buying gifts for guys. And if you think the same, this online store has the answers for you! So go check them out! http://www.mancrates.com/ So, getting back, I don’t think that I have ever shared with you what I couldn’t live without. Honestly, there are way more than five things I couldn’t live without, but I have chosen just five. So let’s get started!

1. Tea. Normally, it would be coffee. For years I have not been able to start my day off without my cup of coffee, but a few weeks ago I got really sick and since then I have given up coffee for good. It’s so hard! But I started drinking tea as an alternative. It’s still not the same, but at least it’s something to help me kick start my day! 🙂 I really like Chamomile tea. It tastes good plain and doesn’t need any sweetener or cream!

2. Mascara. Even if I don’t wear any other makeup, I cannot face my day without mascara. I don’t know why that is, but that is my beauty must-have. Maybelline’s Illegel Length mascara is my favorite one.

3. Pen and paper. Whether I’m writing down ideas, scribbling/doodling, or making lists, I can never have enough paper!

4. Phone/Computer. I couldn’t decide between the two, so I chose them both! They are both essential to me on a daily basis, and I couldn’t survive very long without either of them! 🙂 I recently purchased this computer, and I honestly can’t see how I lived without it! It’s absolutely amazing!!

5. My favorite book. It could be any book, though, just as long as I had something to read! A Tale of Two Cities is my absolute favorite book, but I have many others I love almost just as much! The Kite Runner was another one that popped into my head. I recently purchased ‘And the Mountains Echoed’ by the same author; I am so excited to read it! Have you read it? Is it good?

So those are just some of my must-haves/things I couldn’t live without. What are yours? Let me know! I hope you have a great day and I will talk to you soon!

How to Style a Pixie Haircut

Hey everyone! So for today’s post I thought I would share with you a few pictures on how to style a pixie cut! I have been growing my hair out for about a year now and it’s almost to my shoulders. But it just looks so unkempt and is really annoying me, so I made an appointment for Wednesday to chop it all off again!! I am so excited! I’m going to go with a little bit of a different style than what I had before, but it won’t be too different. So after looking through pictures, I thought I would share some tips in case you also have short hair!

I like how Emma Watson put a little decorative clip in her hair. There isn’t a whole lot you can do with short hair, but by adding little cute, feminine pieces to it, you can definitely create cute looks!

Ginnifer Goodwin is the person I use when I get my hair cut. I was re-watching Once Upon a Time with my sister, and I just loved her look as Mary Margaret! I like to think I am like her character, so I couldn’t help but wish for short hair again. So that’s why I decided to get my hair cut! I love how she used this cute red bow to do her hair. It adds femininity to her style. I know that sometimes short hair can be more boy-ish, but with cute accessories you can make it more girly!

It will be a little bit harder to do, but if you have longer hair up top, you can curl it. I think that is what I will do sometimes, just so you don’t have to have the same look everyday.

So there are just a couple different ways to fix short hair. Hope you enjoyed this, and I will talk to you later!

1 Blazer- 3 Ways!

Hey everyone!

So I have recently started to wear more blazers. A couple years ago I was into them, and then I just stopped wearing them. But I have rediscovered a love for them and thought I would share how to wear a black blazer in three different ways! 🙂

The first look is a very casual look. Even though the blazer is nice, you can definitely dress it down by wearing jeans and a t-shirt underneath the blazer.

The next look is a little bit more dressy, but still casual enough that you could wear this type of outfit anywhere. It reminds me of a perfect summer date night look. 🙂

This last outfit is definitely more dressy. By wearing a skirt and lots of jewelry, you can easily dress up a blazer. And the good thing about a black blazer is that it matches any color! 🙂

So if you don’t have a black blazer, I would have to urge you to invest in one! They match any outfit, and easily make it look put together. Even if you are wearing jeans and a white t-shirt, throw on a blazer, a cute necklace, and you have an adorable outfit! 🙂

How to Wear Sperry’s!

How to Wear Sperry’s!

So recently (actually yesterday!), I purchased my first pair of Sperry’s. I actually got them at the consignment store I work at. They came in brand new and were my size! It was the second pair I have ever seen come in since working there. So of course I had to get them. (They were more than half of their original price!) I never thought about getting some, even though they are super cute, mostly because of their price. I would rather spend that 90 dollars on something else! :) But once I saw these I just had to get them.

So for today’s post, I thought it would be fun to show you how to wear Sperry’s, based on pictures of others wearing them. Since today was the first time I have worn them, I wanted to see how others wore theirs! They tend to be more preppy/nautical, based on the ads Sperry puts out. But honestly, you can literally wear them however you want! I have the tan top-siders, so they will match anything. And they will be perfect for when we go to Disneyworld in a couple weeks! (Which, by the way, I have decided that I will do a post about the outfits that I will be wearing. So at the end of March, come back for that! :) )

This first outfit is perfect for that transition period, whether from winter to spring, or fall to winter. I like how this cardigan is paired with the button down. I am going to copy this outfit for sure in the near future 🙂

sperry2 fall

This next outfit is super cute! I like how she still stuck with the trendy look, but strayed away from the standard, preppy look Sperry’s tend to give. She kept it stylish, trendy, and classy!

This next outfit is more preppy, but I still really like the colors together! I also like how she mixed the floral scarf with the striped top. I love mixing patterns!

I love this outfit! It’s feminine and classy, and perfect for spring time!

I am pretty sure this is one of Sperry’s own ads. But it is so cute! I love yellow, and this blazer with it is so cute! At first I thought it was navy, but it kind of looks black. Either color would be cute, though! 🙂

This is another great transition outfit!

This outfit is perfect for those hot summer days. It reminds me of an outfit that would be great to travel to Europe in! It just seems like a tourist-y type style. I love it! 🙂

I don’t know if it’s cold where you are, but it is still freezing here! This picture doesn’t show the lower part of the outfit, but I think it would be so cute to finish it off with Sperry’s. 🙂

This last outfit is so cute. This is the type of dress/ outfit I really like. I am going to try to use this as inspiration for when planning my outfits for Disneyworld!

So those are just some inspirational pictures for you and for me on how to wear Sperry’s! I loved trying to find how others wear their Sperry’s. I really like the more preppy look, but that’s not exactly my style. But it will be fun picking out outfits centered around my Sperry’s! haha 🙂 Have a great day, and I will see you soon! 🙂

Fashion Tip #17!

#17- My Outfit Of the Day

photo (8)

I am wearing this dress, a black cardigan and black ballet flats. All from Target. 🙂 To wear a dress like this in the winter, just wear some tights or leggings, and a long sleeved sweater on top. You can go for boots or flats to complete your outfit. And if you still think you need something more winter-y to wear, add a cute scarf!

#16- January Favorites!

For today’s post, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite things this month. I can’t believe that it is almost February! I hope that this next month brings warmer weather. 🙂 I chose a few categories, and thought I would share some favorites in each category. I have a lot, so… let’s get started!

photo (5)

I am loving the new Covergirl Bombshell eyeliner. It’s goes on perfectly, and doesn’t move/smudge all day long! My new favorite is the mascara by Rimmel. You can make your eyelashes look natural, or build the mascara for ultimate volume.

In one of my last posts, I mentioned this purse. I absolutely love it! It’s a cross body bag and is the perfect size. These BCBG shoes I found at a consignment store. I love them! They were new and only $13!

Celebrity Style

I am in love with Olivia Palermo’s style. I actually first saw her in a fashion magazine, and I can see why! Her style is trendy, classy and chic.

For Christmas, I got a latte maker. I LOVE it! I make one almost everyday. My favorite is a hazelnut latte. You can make hot chocolate, tea lattes, and anything else you would like! It’s been great to have something delicious and hot to drink on these cold days.

I have been listening to Broadway music quite a lot recently. I’ve always liked Broadway songs, but have especially been listening to more of them this month.

Another all-time favorite is Twenty-One Pilots. If you haven’t listened to their music, you HAVE to! They’re amazing. I listen to them when I run and when I paint. I can never hear their songs enough. 🙂

Favorite Book

photo (4)

This month I read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Written by the author of The Kite Runner, this book was amazing. Simply amazing. Can’t say enough about it!

I am currently reading The Scarlet Pimpernel. I watched the movie a while ago and really liked it, although it was a little cheesy. I have been wanting to read this for quite a while and so I finally started it. I love it! It’s  great so far. 🙂

Favorite Movie

Hands down, Frozen was my favorite movie this month!! It was so cute, had so much heart in it; I just loved it! If you haven’t seen it, you absolutely HAVE to!

So those were some of my favorite things this month. I had so many more, but thought I would share those with you. Let me know your favorites in the comments below. Don’t forget to follow me to stay updated for more posts. 🙂

Fashion Tip #14!

#14- 10 (+1) ways to have a warm, fun, cozy afternoon!

Right now where I am, the temperature is at 5 degrees. So very cold! When the weather is this cold (which tends to be happening everyday), I like to just stay home, sit by the fire, and have a relaxing afternoon/evening. But since this has been happening everyday, those afternoons can become a little boring. Sometimes I think, “What on earth can I do?”

So, while I am eating a hot bowl of cheese broccoli soup to warm me up, I am going to share with you 10+ ways to stay warm and have a cozy afternoon in, free of boredom! 🙂

1. Read a good book. Perhaps it could be a childhood favorite. Whenever I reread some of my past favorites, a rush of memories and feelings that came with the book will sweep over me. It kind of transports me back to the time and place when I last read the book.

2. Make a craft. Perhaps there is a new hobby you want to pick up.

3. Find a new show on Netflix. Is there a new TV show you’ve been wanting to watch? Netflix has many great ones!

4. Paint your nails. I like my fingernails/toenails to be painted at all times, but when they need to be redone, or painted, it’s sometimes hard to find the time, since it takes a while for them to dry. But when you have an afternoon, that would be the perfect time to pamper yourself!

5. Do a mini spring cleaning. Do you have a closet that needs to be cleaned out? Maybe it’s a cupboard under your sink or a junk drawer in your dresser. If you have an afternoon snowed in, go ahead and tackle those projects and clean them. Sometimes on lazy afternoons, I find myself feeling sluggish and tired. I just don’t want to do anything. But when I start to clean or organize something, I will almost always find myself feeling energized.

6. Bundle up and take a meditative walk outside. It’s good to get fresh air; it clears your head and let’s you get a new or fresh perspective on life.

7. Write in your journal. I try to write in my journal on a consistent basis, but sometimes life gets busy and writing in your journal becomes low on your list. But I think it’s important to write your thoughts and feelings. It’s always an enjoyment going back through my old journals and reading the “woes” and “drama” I faced when I was eight. haha

8. Rearrange your room/ area. I always find it fun to redo my room. It just makes life more interesting and keeps me content. Perhaps you have been wanting to redo an area in your home/apartment. Now would be a good time!

9. Sit by the fire, drinking a hot drink. This is one of my favorite things to do. I have found myself with more time on my hands due to the cold. So sitting by the fire, drinking coffee or hot chocolate, reading a book or doing nothing, is such a fun and relaxing thing to do.

10. Play games! It’s easy to just sit and fill your time with movies and social media. But playing a board game is more fun, enjoyable, and worth your time. I have recently been playing Monopoly with my sister. That and Clue are my all-time favorite board games. My new favorite card game, (apart from Euchre. Which, sadly, takes four players. And my sister and I only make two. haha) is German Whist. It’s a two-player card game. We got my other sister and her husband to play it and they now love it. Just google the directions. It’s a great game!

11. Work a puzzle. This can easily take up your afternoon. If you found a show on Netflix you are now addicted to, just watch it while you do a puzzle. Or listen to music while you work on it. It’s such a great way to curve boredom. 🙂

I hope you have enjoyed reading ways to keep your afternoons warm and fun on these cold, winter days! Feel free to let me know what you do to curve your boredom. Follow me for more fashion tips!
