30 More Days ‘Til…Spring!

Well hello there! I don’t know where you are in the world, but where I am, it’s a cold, snowy day. I know it has been such a long time since I have put up a new post. I could say I have been busy, but to be honest, I’ve chosen other things to do. But this snowy day has created the perfect motivation for me to get back into the blogging world and think about spring! So for today’s post I’m going to show some spring trends and where you can get them.

1) Saddle Bags!

I am probably most excited about this trend, considering how much I love all sorts of bags. This purse is so cute, not too big or too small, and perfect to keep your daily essentials in. But it’s also $1,400. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/chloe-medium-marcie-leather-crossbody-bag/3822709?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=634267_1&cm_pla=women:bags:handbag&cm_ven=Google_Product_Ads_pla_online&mr:referralID=7769a966-b7b6-11e4-82f7-001b2166c2c0

So I found an alternative that’s just as cute!

It’s from Daily Look and is more affordable at $49.99. So whether you want to splurge or save, I think this style of bag is a must-have for this season! Get it here: http://www.dailylook.com/p/Bags/DAILYLOOK-Classic-Saddlebag-Purse/96248.html

2) Pastels/ Florals! (of course)

It wouldn’t be spring if pastels or florals weren’t still trendy. Yet thank goodness they both are! I am excited for both trends, as usual, and love how they twist the same style each year to make it just a bit different yet just as cute.

And again, you don’t have to splurge to wear this trend.

This lavender skirt is such a cute style with a sort of princess vibe to it. The crop top adds a trendy look to it, or you can add a more flow-y, cream colored top. Shop for it here: https://www.lulus.com/products/beauty-and-the-pleats-lavender-vegan-leather-midi-skirt/198850.html

This site also has many choices, so be sure to check it out for different styles and colors!

3) Fringe!

I am excited for this trend. You can definitely choose to go edgy or feminine with this look.

This skirt can be either subtle or showy, just depending on how you want to style it! But if you want to go more subtle yet keep the trend, try this cream colored top, also from H & M.

And if that is still too much for you, try a small crossbody bag with just a tad bit of fringe to it!

This purse is from Rebecca Minkoff. I just love her bags and think this one is absolutely adorable and worth the splurge! 🙂

So there you go! Those are just a couple of this year’s trends, and I can’t wait until it’s warm enough so I can start wearing pastels and florals, my usual favorite. 🙂

Hope you have a great day, wherever you are, and thanks for stopping by!

Until next time…

Fall Favorites!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. Besides the gorgeous weather, fall brings other things I look forward to each year!

1. I love nail polish, and this year I am loving Sally Hansen’s insta-dry Cinna-Snap color. It is a perfect color for the fall.

2. Another color I am loving for the fall is also from Sally Hansen. It’s called ‘Slick Slate’.

3. I cannot even begin to describe to you how much I love candy corn. I can, and have, eaten an entire bag of it in two days. It is amazing! I wish they would make it year round, but it is still a fun and yummy treat to look forward to each year!

4. I love Starbucks year-round, but it is so fun to get a hot drink on a cool, autumn day. My favorite from there is the Caramel Macchiato.

5. And, of course, I love this time of year where you can wear a comfy, over sized sweater and boots! Unfortunately, the weather outside is not yet cold enough to do that, but I can’t wait until it is!

So those are some of my favorite things I love about fall. What are yours?

At-Home Spa!

At-Home Spa!

Winter months can leave our skin rough and dry. I’ve never had a problem with dry skin until this winter season, and it has totally not been fun. I came across this facial mask recipe on Tarte Cosmetics’ website (http://tartecosmetics.com/blog/2013/01/28/diy-beauty-ultra-moisturizing-cocoa-face-mask/#disqus_thread) last night and I just had to try it! So I did. My face has never been this smooth before! It’s crazy. So I just had to share it with you all. Here’s the recipe. (I halved it, and it still made quite a bit! Easily enough for three or four masks! Also, I just used olive oil in place of the oil they mention here. Any oil will do, though.)

3 Tbsp. finely ground espresso or coffee beans (I use my own grinder, but already ground coffee works, too!)
3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
3 Tbsp. finely ground toasted almonds (You can use your coffee grinder to prepare the nuts as well!)
1 Tbsp. 100% pure maracuja oil
4 Tbsp. whole milk or unflavored yogurt. Vegans, feel free to substitute with almond milk or coconut milk.
2 Tbsp. honey
1. Grind coffee and almonds —separately– into a fine powder. Remember both ingredients must be finely ground so as to not scratch your skin— you face has enough to deal with in winter!

2. Mix the coffee, cocoa and almonds together in a bowl.

3. Add your diary (or dairy substitute) ingredient. Use only 3 Tbsp if you prefer a thicker mask.

4. Stir in the honey. I like to warm it up first, this helps the honey mix more easily. Try a warm water bath or a minute in the microwave.

5. Continue mixing until smooth while slowly adding in the pure maracuja oil.

6. Apply the mixture to your face, neck, and, if you like , your décolletage.

7. Let the mask sit for 15 minutes and try not to scare your neighbors. Then gently remove by pressing a warm, wet washcloth against your face to loosen the mask. Be careful not to rub too hard — the coffee grounds could irritate sensitive skin.

8. Face the harsh, dry temperatures with calm, hydrated skin!

If there is mixture left over, store it in the fridge and use it the next week. Toss it if you don’t use it within the next 8 days.

Hope you enjoy!

If you’re anything like me, your wardrobe is mostly composed of scarves. I wear them all the time! They’re a great accessory to jazz up any outfit, and keep you warm during the winter months. However, wearing a scarf the same way, over and over, can become tiring. And not fun. Tying a scarf different ways always makes me feel happy, like I am wearing a completely new outfit, even if I have worn it before. So here is a youtube video that some of you may have already seen that shows fun, new and unique ways to tie your traditional scarf. Hope you enjoy!

Kiss those Winter Blah’s Goodbye!

Kiss those Winter Blah's Goodbye!

Winter months can leave us all feeling depressed and anxious for summer! But just because the skies are gray, doesn’t mean we have to dress like that! So here are 5 easy outfit tips to brighten a dreary day!

1) Wear a colored blazer! These instantly brighten up any outfit and definitely make me in a better mood when I step outside in the wintery atmosphere.

2) Accessorize with a colorful scarf! Even if you’re just wearing a neutral outfit to work or kicking around the house, a scarf instantly brings out color in your face and adds color to the world!

3) Jewelry! Like scarves, a bright and cheery statement necklace will add a fabulous touch to any outfit. Rings, bracelets, and earrings will brighten your mood and keep you looking and feeling happy all day!

4) Bright pants! Who says colored pants are just for summer?? Pair them with winter boots and a sweater and you instantly add color wherever you go!

5) A bright and colorful bag! Even if you’re wearing winter browns and blacks, a colored bag will immediately give your outfit a lift and have you kissing those winter blah’s goodbye! 🙂

Hope this was helpful to you, and have a great, colorful day!

This is a fun and cute way to turn your summer dress into a winter outfit! I wore an oversized sweater on top of this dress, and wore brown leggings/tights to keep my legs warm. You could either wear brown boots, or some flats with this, but I chose boots. I finished it off with a scarf. And there you go! This is a quick way to easily transform your outfits and make the most of your clothes!
